togetherness

In a recent community event, the word "togetherness" was talked about repeatedly.

To build a community, we need a sense of togetherness. There are at least two kinds: virtual and physical. Online meetings are a great way of bringing people together. Technology is helpful. But online meeting alone isn't all. We need to be with one another physically. The reason is simple. We are a social species.

Many of us underestimate our need for physical togetherness. It turns out that no matter how remarkable the online communities are, they can’t and shouldn’t replace our gathering in physical.

It's powerful to be with hundreds or thousands of people with a shared purpose and moving together. With proper conditioning, it’s a better way to build trust, connection, motivation, and inspiration in groups and communities.

Being humans means we are neurobiologically wired to be with each other, so we feel less alone and more belonging through togetherness.
