Disagreement can be a trap. Sticking to disagreements leads to polarization.
The us-versus-them thinking has a full manifestation in polarized situations. Strategy conflicts not only activate competition and scarcity (only one side can win) but reinforce the enemy image “If it weren’t for them!”.
Instead of focusing on the real problem, we focus on how we can take down this one person or group—defeating the enemy so we can win hijacks our journey to change in the future. We find ourselves spinning.
Making change is never a one-time clarity but a constant seeking to hone the questions at the core:
What problem are we set out to solve?
Is what we are doing right now solving that problem?
