There is a difference between "I am contributing to solving a problem" versus "implementing my solution to your problem."
When we place ourselves as one of the contributors to solving a problem, the focus isn't on us but on the people who would benefit from the solution. The generous artists and creators offer works that help others tackle challenging situations and inspire people to heal and move forward. It's not about them.
In the classroom, understanding that academic capability might be the identity for some kids but not for the majority helps teachers recognize that every child has potential, and it is a teacher's job to assist children in uncovering it and building a path through schools. Instead of only shining lights on kids with good grades and complying behaviors, the classroom newsletters can praise children who struggle with academics and see what they are good at. It's not about the teachers.
We are the ones who make change happen. And it doesn't have to keep "ME" in the center of focus as a need for security.
