National Tree Planting Day in Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan is March 12. It’s a tribute to Sun Yat-sen, a leader in Chinese history. As the name states, people observe the holiday by planting trees. Back in the days, schools organized students to spend the day at his memorial in the suburb. I learned that tree-planting was hard work on a special day.
The first time I heard about Ecosia was from The Carbon Almanac. Ecosia is a search engine company based in Germany. They choose to contributes 80% of their profit from advertising to tree-planting projects around the world. The uniqueness about how they do this is passing the credit to their customers. The first tree that I contributed through Ecosia was right after my 50th search.
