It’s a 2000 movie based on the novel of the same name by Catherine Ryan Hyde. 12-year-old Trevor got a social study assignment from his teacher: make a plan that would change the world for the better, and put it into action. Trevor called his plan “pay it forward”. He tried to help out people around him but kept failing, and eventually set in motion an unprecedented wave of kindness that eventually blossomed into a movement.
Even though the film is based on a novel, it shares the truth about learning, change, and kindness.
Learning involves failure and is not guaranteed to work. And learning is about change. It changes our understanding so we change how we interact with people and the world around us.
Kindness, love, and appreciation are needed now more than ever. Paying it forward helps us all.
