competition and comparison

Competitions that are focusing on the sake of winning rarely last. Competitions for the love of the game on the other hand tells a different story.

Kids who play hard because they enjoy every minute of being in the field are very different from kids that are driven by something else. Even with the same scores, motivations lead to 2 different results. When kids play because it looks cool, simply to win or to make other people proud instead of their love and passion, it’s challenging to sustain. After 5 seasons, some teams are still around, while the impatient ones have long gone.

Comparison offers little grounding, but doing things we love does. Without grounding, resilience has no place to seed and grow.
