centering

It's challenging to center the clay on the wheel even after placing it in the middle of the circle.

For people with stronger arms and hands, centering is a straightforward process. The best approach is to bring the clay ball up to a cone and slightly bend forward to bring it down to the center.

It is slightly more complicated for folks who need to leverage body weight to anchor their arms and hands. You might need to lean on your right side of the body, bringing the clay ball up first, then lean all the way to the left side and bend the clay ball slightly forward to bring it down to the center.

The strength of our bodies is the determining factor for the centering strategy. No matter how you go, the rule of thumb is this: if we use the metaphor of a rock in the water, you are the rock, and the clay is the water.

Instead of thinking we are centering the clay, we are finding the center of our body's strength to manipulate it.
