branding is leading

It's not rare to see leaders delegate their branding responsibility to someone else on the team. Instead of making an executive decision, leaders believe they are being inclusive and thoughtful.

It's easy to believe that letting other people make a hard decision is the democracy the organization is about and avoid the fact that we are hiding with fear.

We fear that making the hard decision might upset some people. We fear being on the hook and taking responsibility that we might not be ready for. We are worried that the consequences created by our actions are more significant than we can handle.

Hiding isn't leading, but leaping is.
