Defining values can be challenging. There are many things we value, which one to go for is the question.
In a school environment, when the values are “kindness”, “safe”, “care”, “respect”, “fun” etc., it’s hard to grasp the core value the school is leading with. It’s great that your school talks about these values, but it’s challenging to imagine an elementary school would not encourage kindness, safe and fun. In brand marketing, we call these “brilliant basics” meaning they are the basics that a school needs to have in order to stay in business.
Maybe a helpful question to think about is this: if there is a change your school has made for children’s learning, what is it? Until we are clear about the change we seek to make, it’s challenging to know what values would be helpful to achieve that.
